Privacy Policy

SaminaZ Collections ("we", "us", "our") operates this online store from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

Who we are: SaminaZ Collections is a trade name of a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Samina Naz, registered with Alberta Corporate Registry and based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We have been in business since 2008. Samina Naz is the person responsible for privacy at SaminaZ Collections; you can reach us through our Contact page.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and — where they apply to you — Québec's Law 25 and other applicable privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Order information: your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address, and the items, sizes and colours you ordered. This is required to process, ship and support your order.
  • Account information (optional): if you create an account, your name, email, phone, password (stored only as a secure hash) and saved addresses. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google — never your Google password.
  • Reviews and content: the rating, review text, and the name and contact details you submit with a product review. Your name and review may be published; your phone number and email are kept private for verification only.
  • Support messages: what you send us by email, WhatsApp, or our contact form, so we can help you.
  • Marketing preferences: if you opt in to receive news or offers.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and pages viewed — used for security, fraud prevention and to keep the site working.
  • Usage and analytics data: which pages and products are viewed, and how visitors move through the site, so we can improve it. Analytics only run if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy for the full list and your controls.

Payment information

We never see or store your full card number. Card payments are processed directly by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We receive only a payment confirmation and limited details such as the card brand, last four digits and billing name. If you pay by another method shown at checkout (for example Interac e-Transfer or payment on pickup), we keep only the reference you provide so we can match the payment to your order.

2. Why We Use Your Information

  • To take payment for, prepare, ship and track your order
  • To send transactional messages you would expect — order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to your questions
  • To provide your account, order history and saved addresses (if you create one)
  • To publish and verify product reviews, including the "Verified Buyer" indication
  • To prevent fraud, abuse and bot activity, and to keep the store secure
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations
  • To send marketing messages — only if you have consented, and you can withdraw at any time
  • With your consent, to measure and improve our site and advertising

3. Service Providers We Share Information With

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the store, and only as far as needed:

  • Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention, and Stripe Tax for calculating applicable sales tax
  • Cloudflare — website hosting, database and file storage, security and bot protection (Turnstile)
  • Shipping carriers — your name, address and phone number, so your parcel can be delivered
  • Resend — sending our transactional and (if you opted in) marketing emails
  • Google — Google Sign-In (if you use it) and, with your consent, Google Analytics
  • Meta and other advertising or analytics tools — with your consent only, to measure and improve advertising

We may also disclose information where required by law, to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect our rights, safety or property.

4. Storage Outside Canada

Our providers may store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries. While information is outside Canada, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or authorities in that country under their laws. We choose established providers that offer appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.

5. How Long We Keep Information

  • Order, invoice and tax records: retained as required by Canadian tax law (generally six years).
  • Account information: kept while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile but keep the order records we are legally required to retain.
  • Support messages: kept as long as needed to resolve your matter and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe, plus a short record that you unsubscribed so we do not contact you again.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to legal limits, you may:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete — you can also update your details in your account
  • Withdraw consent for marketing or for analytics and marketing cookies at any time
  • Request deletion of your account and information we are not required to keep
  • Ask how your information is handled, or complain about how we handled it

To make a request, contact us through our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time required by law (generally 30 days). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

7. Marketing Emails (CASL)

We send commercial electronic messages only with your consent, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email identifies us and includes an unsubscribe link that works. Transactional messages about an order you placed are not marketing and will still be sent.

8. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls limited to staff who need it, bot and abuse protection, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take these safeguards seriously and review them as the store grows.

9. Children's Privacy

Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our business, tools or the law change. The "Last updated" date below always shows the current version. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
